  1. I was looking for a replacement for a 2-stroke gas trimmer that I had. I don’t have a huge yard now, and I was thinking I could just get one of the cheaper Black and Decker plug-in or battery powered trimmers, but since I like to do things overkill, and because I’m partial to DeWalt, I figured I’d give this a shot.POWERIt probably has more power than my old gas trimmer. The benefit of the electric motor is that you get basically instant throttle (potentiometer?) response and immense torque even at low speeds. It has 2 settings, low and high. For my average yard, I kept it in low, and even then, half throttle did basically everything. Only for cutting through tough stuff (small saplings etc) did I have to squeeze it to full power. I tried it on high mode a few times just for fun, but I didn’t come across anything that necessitated the high setting.EASE OF USEJust charge the battery and go. No starting, no gas. I put about 2 hours of use on it the first time, and the battery dipped down to 2/3 bars on the pack. I didn’t find it to be too heavy, comparable to a gas trimmer. My one minor quibble would be that the shield is a bit tiny, so yeah, you probably get more junk on you compared to others, but you shouldn’t be wearing your Sunday best anyways doing yard work.In addition, the battery pack is compatible with a range of DeWalt stuff, so I might end up replacing a few corded tools as well.SUMMARYDefinitely a capable tool. Beats any gas trimer I’ve had. Makes quick work of basically everything. Pros could definitely use this, although you’d probably have to buy and extra battery or two for all-day use.

  2. WOW! This thing is a beast! First off , I gave it 4 stars because it needs a shoulder strap and a bigger guard ( which you can purchase extra)and it comes with a regular 20v charger. Not the fast charging flexvolt charger. What kind of bull is that? I also purchased the grass gator 4750 w/metal blades and put on it. Holy smokes this thing cuts through 1″-1.25″ saplings like they’re just blades of grass no slow down or hesitation at all. It lightweight ad easy to manipulate. Since there’s no gas or oil there’s really no wrong way to hold it . I used it like an edger, a standard trimmer , and even sculpted my hedges with it. I absolutely love it! I’d recommend this to anyone matter how small the yard. I charged the battery fully before use. Ran it for 4hrs straight and I couldn’t tell any loss of power from the first 5 mins to the 4 hr mark. I had to quit because of rain but I bet I could’ve got another 4 hrs at least before having to charge battery. They say power of corded without the cord, well on this it’s true no lie. Well I’ll update my review in a month or two after some good hard hrs get put on it.

  3. Received my trimmer today . Let me start by saying that trimming my lawn is and always will be work that I don’t like. But knowing that I will never have to pull on a gas motor again makes me very happy. My lawn was two weeks over due for trimming. I have a 100’x150′ lot. I trim all for edges. I have 5 trees a 14’x14′ shed that I trim all around. And 3 sides of my house. I edg trim 50′ of drive way. After 20 to 25 min. of that, the battery has all 3 lights still lit. So I started down the street on the ditch. It has 2′ tall weeds and on the low setting I couldn’t stop the motor. Not sure why there is a high setting. Found no reason for it. This trimmer is everything that my gas STHIL fs 44 is. I have no regrets on this purchase at all. No more old gas I this guy’s shead.
